marching percussion music

The large selection of musical instruments and accessories found in a local music store will overwhelm a person who has no musical background. The musical instruments on display will be organized in categories and some will bear funny names that are foreign to those that have not grown up around them. A person who grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana would be very familiar with brass musical instruments because they are played often on Bourbon Street, especially during tourist season.
Other visitors to that City of Blues would recognize the sound of the trumpets and drum sets as they were played during Mardi Gras by marching bands as they winded their way through the French Quarter and on to Canal Street, Esplanade and other parts of the beautiful city. Those percussion musical instruments kept a timely beat that motivated partygoers into dancing the night away in the middle of the street.
Without those musical instruments in tow, the sound of Mardi Gras revelers screaming at floats as they passed by would be the only thing heard during the festive periods of nighttime revelry that is typical of the Carnival season. The cymbals of the marching bands will always ring in the distance as musicians practice note after note in preparation for this remarkable event called Mardi Gras.
Some bars in the French Quarter might have a varied number of musical instruments and accessories arranged precariously on a stage. Those musical instruments would not come alive for hours perhaps, or whenever the band members decided to go to work that day. The bar bands in New Orleans would begin arriving around 6:00 p.m. These talented artists know every part of their musical instruments like the back of their hand.
The musicians would play those musical instruments and accessories until the early hours of the next morning and then go home to rest to be able to get up and play them again for the tourists that come in droves to this town to enjoy the southern lazy charm of the full flavored town that is New Orleans. Generations of families will learn how to play certain musical instruments with a style that is uniquely their own. The squeal of the trumpets and the beat of the drums come alive on street corners when the band bars close.
Other bars are always open in this sleepy Southern city called New Orleans. The lights of the city burn brightly with the bright smiles of musicians who want to share the joy of music to whoever is around at the time. A seasoned musician would stop by and have a drink or two at some point in the day or night, and the warm caress of a horn or a drum would be a very personal moment. The musical instruments and accessories were always afforded the most respect and never were they dropped. Every time a musician picked up a horn, there was always someone else yelling in the crowd to let the good times roll.
